What personal data do we collect?

Student Data:

School Data – Schools/Parents/Carers provide Answer Perfect with Student Data to enable set-up and administration of student accounts and evaluate the progress of the student. This includes information such as a students’ name, class, unique pupil code, password and target grade. Teachers/Parents/Carers also input Student Data into the students’ user areas within Answer Perfect, including feedback on work completion.

Usage Data – Answer Perfect gathers information about student activity when they use Answer Perfect in order to optimise student learning. This includes data on student progress and performance in quizzes and questions, the use of Answer Perfect features (such as Notes), last login time and login duration.

Student Data is used to:

  • Setup and administer student accounts
  • Build a student profile of student progress and performance
  • Provide technical support and deal with help requests and enquiries
  • Provide tailored questions and support
  • Track student usage and provide statistical information on progress
  • Provide reporting to teachers/parents/carers to allow them to monitor student progress and record their actions
  • Conduct research into usage and the impact of Answer Perfect and students’ educational performance and outcomes
  • Evaluate and improve Answer Perfect

Teacher/Parent Data:

School Data – In order for schools/home to subscribe to Answer Perfect and in order to set up and administer user accounts, Answer Perfect processes personal information relating to teachers, parents and other school staff including name, email address, telephone number, teaching classes, job role and password. In order to set up a School/Home account, Answer Perfect will also collect School name, website, address and payment method.

Usage Data – To gauge usage, Answer Perfect collects data generated by parents’/teachers’ activity when using Answer Perfect, including time spent using Answer Perfect, last login time and information supplied by teachers and parents in respect of student attainment. Answer Perfect also collects data generated by teachers and parents from interactions with emails sent by answer perfect, including when emails were opened, links clicked and other answer perfect activity and uses data analytics and collects information about how and when answer perfect is accessed, browser type and version, operating system and device.

 

Teacher/Parent Data is used to:

  • Set up and administer teacher parent and school staff accounts
  • Provide teachers, parents and other school staff members with access to student data
  • Provide teachers, parents and other school staff members with email updates
  • To quantify usage of Answer Perfect
  • Provide technical support and deal with help requests and enquiries
  • Conduct research into usage and impact of Answer Perfect and students’ educational performance and outcomes
  • Evaluate and improve Answer Perfect

 

How do we get the personal information?

Schools share personal information about their students, teachers and other school staff with Answer Perfect. Parents/Carers will also share information about their children with Answer Perfect. Answer Perfect calls this School Data. Answer Perfect seeks consent for personal data to be processed and can be provided on users’ behalf by the Parent/Carer and/or Teacher and/or School Administrator. Personal information about students, i.e. names and target grades, is uploaded to the online platform by Parents/School staff and must only be uploaded once consent has been sought. This personal information is not compulsory, and the data remains the responsibility of the Controller. Personal information about teachers and other school staff is shared when schools sign-up to Answer Perfect, or through the creation of teacher accounts, submit enquiries or support requests.

Answer Perfect also collects personal information when Answer Perfect is being used by students, teachers, parents, and other school staff. This is called Usage Data.

Answer Perfect also collections personal information when people submit enquiries or sign up to a marketing list.

 

Why do we collect data?

Under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the lawful basis we reply on for processing this information is legitimate reasons.

We use the information that you have given us in order to:

  • To enable students, parents and teachers to effectively use answerperfect.co.uk
  • To inform you of changes to our website, such as improvements or service/product changes, that may affect our service
  • To provide information on new services to adults via our newsletters and marketing correspondence.
  • Identifying usage trends
  • Data analytics
  • If you are an existing customer, we may contact you with information about goods and services similar to those that were the subject of a previous sale to you
  • We will seek your specific consent (if child under 13 years of age parental/school consent required) in order to process data and create a website account
  • Responding to questions or comments
  • To comply with applicable legal or regulatory obligations, including informal requests from law enforcement or other governmental authorities

 

Who do we share your data with?

Answer Perfect shares Student Data with-

  • teachers at the students’ School; and
  • other school members at the students’ School and/or MAT or other managing organisation/alliance; and
  • parents of the student

Answer Perfect shares Teacher Data with-

  • Other teachers at the teachers’ School; and
  • Other school staff members at the teachers’ School and/or MAT or other managing organisation/alliance

Student Data and Teacher Data will also be shared with Answer Perfect staff, support companies used by Answer Perfect and other third parties if required by law.

We may use your personal information to send you promotional information about third parties which we think you may find interesting if you tell us that you wish this to happen.

The personal information that Answer Perfect collects will be stored and used in the EAA wherever possible. Answer Perfect will only transfer your data outside the European Economic Area (EAA) if tis necessary for us to do so in order to facilitate our service. For example, because there are no reasonable alternative support companies based in the EAA. If we have to transfer your personal information out of the EAA, we will ensure protection is afforded to it by ensuring at least one of the following safeguarding processes is implemented:

  • We will only transfer personal information to support companies in countries that have been deemed to provide an adequate level of protection by the European Commission.
  • We may use specific contract approved by the European Commission which gives personal information the same protection it has in Europe
  • We undertake detailed due diligence to ensure that each support company has good privacy safeguards and security features to prevent unauthorised access to or use of personal information that we have sent
  • Supporting companies based in the US may have data transferred to them if they have implemented standard contractual clauses which requires them to provide similar protection to personal information shared between Europe and the US.

A discussion will only be about overall trends in data in the interest of raising awareness and understanding the impact of our resources.

Users may find advertising or other content on our Site that link to the sites and services of our partners, suppliers, advertisers, sponsors, licensors and other third parties. We do not control the content or links that appear on these sites and are not responsible for the practices employed by websites linked to or from our Site. In addition, these sites or services, including their content and links, may be constantly changing. These sites and services may have their own privacy policies and customer service policies. Browsing and interaction on any other website, including websites which have a link to our Site, is subject to that website’s own terms and policies. How long do we retain data?

Answer Perfect does not keep personal information for longer than is necessary. Student Data will be processed and held by Answer Perfect for a maximum period of 365 days from the end of the contract. However, should the School/Parent wish for Answer Perfect to delete the data before this 365 day time period has expired then Answer Perfect is happy to oblige. After the 365 day time period, the Student Data is anonymised by Answer Perfect. This means all data fields that can be used to identify an individual are removed, so that only non-identifiable information remains. This information is not classed as personal information and can be retained by Answer Perfect indefinitely.

Personal information collected through the purchase of a subscription package will be processed and held internally by Answer Perfect for period of 7 years for financial record keeping. After the 7 year time period, all personal information held in financial records will be deleted and destroyed permanently.

Personal information collected when opting in to a marketing list will be held until a contact has opted out of a marketing list. You may choose to restrict the collection or use of your personal information. If you have previously agreed to us using your personal information for direct marketing purposes, you may change your mind at any time by emailing us at info@answerperfect.co.uk.

 

What rights do you have over your data?

Under data protection law, you have rights including:

  • Your right of access - You have the right to ask us for copies of your personal information.
  • Your right to rectification - You have the right to ask us to rectify personal information you think is inaccurate. You also have the right to ask us to complete information you think is incomplete.
  • Your right to erasure - You have the right to ask us to erase your personal information in certain circumstances.
  • Your right to restriction of processing - You have the right to ask us to restrict the processing of your personal information in certain circumstances.

Answerperfect.co.uk will not be held accountable or responsible for any breach of security in relation to the password of each account.

Answer Perfect limits access to personal information to only those employees and support companies who have a legitimate need for access. They will only process personal information in accordance with our instructions and will be subject to a duty of confidentiality.

 

Consent Notice

Data Controller – The Controller of the Data is the Student/Parent/Education Provider who agrees to a subscription with Answer Perfect. It is the Controller that sends the School Data to Answer Perfect for it to be processed. It is the Controller’s obligation to meet the Controller’s obligations and rights. These include ensuring that all Data is obtained with permission and processed lawfully and transparently.

Answer Perfect seeks consent for personal data to be processed and can be provided on a users’ behalf by the Parent/Carer and/or Teacher and/or School Administrator.
